ZuidKade nominated for the Hague Housing Award 2025

ZuidKade has been nominated for the Hague Housing Award 2025. This prestigious city award, an initiative of Stichting Wonen in Den Haag (Living in The Hague Foundation), recognises housing projects that excel in vision, craftsmanship, quality, sustainability and social added value. Projects that set a new standard for living in The Hague.

ZuidKade, diagonally opposite Mares, is part of De Zuid, the large-scale area development in the The Hague Scheveningen harbour by MRP and VORM in collaboration with the Municipality of The Hague. The former Norfolk site is now being transformed into a lively urban district by the sea. Here, living, working and recreation come together in a natural way.

ZuidKade is completed in April 2025: a sustainable and varied residential complex with 75 luxury flats, 14 townhouses, commercial spaces, a biodiverse courtyard garden and nesting boxes in the façade. Almost all commercial spaces in ZuidKade and the adjacent ZuidHaven have now been leased by owner Van der Zwan, including to innovative maritime companies such as DEMCON and DutchSail. This gives concrete form to the ambition of the municipality of The Hague: a port area that retains its versatile functions and distinguishes itself through a strong cluster of maritime innovation. ZuidKade thus contributes to the unique Scheveningen harbour in The Hague, where there is room for residents, entrepreneurs and visitors – while retaining the authentic character that makes the harbour so special. It is a tremendous achievement by all partners that these ambitions are now being realised.

The De Zuid area development comprises approximately 400 homes. From apartments to ground-level homes, surrounded by harbours, dunes, beach and sea. The ZuidDuin, ZuidHaven and ZuidKade sub-plans have already been realised. The subsequent phases, Mares, ZuidBaai and ZuidHof, will complete the area development. De Zuid is located on the former Norfolk site, around the Third Harbour in the port of Scheveningen in The Hague.

Zuidkade is a development by Zuid C.V, MRP and VORM, in collaboration with the municipality of The Hague. Architects of the apartments LEVS Architecten and ZECC Architecten, of the townhouses HOYT Architecten and Broos de Bruijn, landscape architect Copijn. The developers worked closely with Bruijnzeel Keukens NEXT, Duravit, Quooker and @Woonlab on the interior design of the homes. Realisation VORM Bouw
