Highest point of construction monumental CAB in Cartesius Utrecht reached

This milestone was celebrated last week with the raising of the flag on the 6-storey construction of the monumental CAB by Paul Oremus and Geert Stielstra of CBRE Investment Management Netherlands . These 246 apartments of, intended for the private sector, rest on a unique table construction that was built right through the CAB. Concrete columns extend right through the monument, while the slender steel truss construction of the CAB has been retained.

Cartesius Utrecht has been embraced by the World Health Organization (WHO) as an exemplary project for healthy urban development. In this city district, lessons from the science of the Blue Zones are applied and monitored in order to create a healthy living environment. It is special that Michel Poulain, founder of the Blue Zones concept, was present at this moment. His visit emphasized the importance of a living environment that focuses on a healthy community with a strong focus on health, biodiversity and sustainability.

Cartesius is a development by the Cartesius Development Consortium MRP and Ballast Nedam Development in collaboration with the Municipality of Utrecht and NS Stations, urban development and landscape architect Mecanoo, project management in collaboration with Drees & Sommer Netherlands.
