Cartesius internationally recognised as an example of livable cities at the World Economic Forum

KPMG's Blueprint for Livable Economies report was presented during the World Economic Forum in Davos. This report mentions our Cartesius Utrecht project as an example and international showcase for livable cities. This is a special recognition, positioning Cartesius as a world first in the field of healthy, inner-city area development and where Blue Zones insights are being applied for the first time in an inner-city area development.

Cartesius is a Living Blue Zone in the Utrecht region. The neighbourhood was designed with one clear ambition: to create a healthy living environment for people and animals, now and in the future. Health, socialising, exercise, nature, relaxation, sustainable mobility and healthy food are central to this. What makes Cartesius unique, ithat it is not only designed and built, but we also measure. By monitoring what works in practice, we gain insight into how the design of a neighbourhood contributes to health, well-being and sustainability. This knowledge helps to improve cities to realize step by step healthy and sustainable living environments.
